The
German automotive manufacturer Audi has created eco-friendly fuel
called e-diesel. Its production process, which only requires solar
and wind energy, water, and CO2, will be of great help in preserving
nature.
The fuel was developed using an innovative technique. Audi’s scientists
first boiled water to a temperature above 800°C and converted the
steam into hydrogen and oxygen. Then they mixed hydrogen with processed
CO2 and piped the mixture into a reactor to apply strong pressure.
The resulting substance, which they call “blue crude,” is refined
to produce e-diesel.
The fuel has great benefits. Unlike regular diesel, which emits
harmful CO2 into the atmosphere, e-diesel can absorb the gas! In
addition, its estimated retail price is only ￦1,270 to ￦1,890 per
liter, and it can be used in any type of car.
Now, the company is planning to build a bigger manufacturing plant
in Dresden, Germany to meet the world demand. If Audi finally begins
to sell e-diesel at this low price, it will be a historical contribution
to the environment and civilization. Let’s hope that the company
will make it happen.
